I recently joined Passport to Thin and believe I have found the "missing link" in weight loss/management programs - namely, the concept of "coaching"!  I am excited to be working with Doris to bring together the elements of good nutrition, exercise, weight loss and weight management under the umbrella of compassionate support.  I look forward to writing another testimonial in the future about my success!

I was fortunate enough to find Doris Eder in a newspaper article about her business. In my first meeting with her I said I knew how to diet but I had no idea how to eat on a normal basis. For years I lost weight, gained it back and increased my weight by an extra 10 - 20 pounds.

Doris and I decided that I would start by eating like I should eat every day for the rest of my life. The weight may come off a little slower but I would know how to maintain. I lost 65 pounds and maintained it during a 2 year period that I worked with Doris. Who knew the food pyramid was so easy? I never felt deprived. I planned meals and snacks. When I found myself feeling hungry, I would think about what I should eat. Junk food didn’t look so good to me anymore. If I stopped at McDonald’s, it was probably to use the bathroom. Where I once needed the foods I craved, I now craved the foods I need.

I maintained for awhile, but then started a job that took more hours than I had. The things I let drop from my life were my monthly meetings with Doris, then exercise, then eating right. Up went the weight, but this time I took action before it all came back. I needed to feel as healthy as I did when I was working with Doris.  I called Doris back and got my life under control again.

Doris doesn’t just look at what I am eating and how much I am exercising; she looks at how to make this all work in my life. This is my life, I only get one but I get a new chance every day. I am glad Doris and Passport to Thin is there to help me take advantage of that chance.

I have been working with Doris for over a year now and have lost over 30 pounds.  I started out in a large group and it has since worked out that three of us have stuck together and supported each other.  I love the small group.  Doris knows each one of us personally and holds us accountable, and is very supportive.  I have tried other weight loss groups but felt lost in the crowd.  Not so with Doris.  I feel I have made healthy changes in my diet and exercise routines that will last a lifetime.  I am not "on a diet" but eating healthier for life.  I have learned a lot about myself and my eating habits as a result of the group.  I know I am an emotional eater and have made changes to stop this pattern.  Doris is great to work with and I would recommend her, and have, to anyone looking for a realistic way to lose weight, and keep it off.

I'm a new Passport to Thin client.  Doris is extremely supportive and non-judgmental.  It feels great to come to a small group meeting and be able to share with Doris and others the daily struggle I have with food.  Doris spends time getting to know each of us and helping us to craft an individualized plan for weight loss that fits in with our daily lives.  I often learn new things based on the counsel she gives other members of the group as well.  I've been to many other weight loss programs, but for the first time in my life, I don't feel like I'm on a diet but rather I'm just on the path to learning the skills that will help me eat in a healthy way for the rest of my life.  Doris helps people discover a new mindset that works for them.
